Working from Home

PHSS, also known as Participation House is a community-based program that serves to provide support to people with physical or developmental disabilities. It differs from institutional care because of its unique care systems. Currently, there are over 60 support locations in London which each houses 2-4 adult PHSS clients. Other options include home-based supports, day programs, and recreational programs. Home support encourages the importance of family at PHSS while decreasing pressure on hospitals and other institutions. Finally, the costs of care are greatly reduced due to these alternative care systems.

The goal of this organization is to help the clients of PHSS succeed within the community, as well as provide an inclusive and engaging environment for participants. Additionally, PHSS provides equal access for clients in the community while simultaneously aiding in the development of the London community. The support of this organization allows for all members to contribute to society in a significant and valuable way. Participation House ensures clients are included in the decision-making process either individually or during a consultation with friends and family. Moreover, the people at PHSS can choose to alter their support options and have a say in their communal role. Furthermore, PHSS services are catered to the needs of the individuals that they support and can be altered based on circumstantial events.

The staff are highly trained and equipped to deal with all clients whose needs vary in complexity while maintaining a safe and caring environment. This organization aims to serve as secondary support coinciding with the support of family, friends, and the community. To conclude, PHSS strives to support individuals with disabilities by allowing them inclusive access in their community and providing a safe comfortable environment where all clients are valued and respected as unique individuals.
